A good exhibition room is an exhibition that give a communicative, informative, atrractive, interactive, educative and recreative content to visitors. But, many museums in Indonesia have not achieved that goal due to museum conditions that are not supported by a good exhibition concept. One of museums that has this problem is Museum Bahari, Jakarta. Museum Bahari is a museum that stores Indonesian maritime collections which still use traditional exhibit concept (object oriented museum) as the exhibition. This traditional exhibition has resulted in lack attention to the display system, so the information of the museum object can’t deliverate well to public. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> To construct a communicative informative, atrractive, interactive, educative and recreative exhibits which has edutainment value, storytelling/narrative is the most important element. Narrative can interpret the meaning of an object and it also can create a relation between humans and object through a story concept. The main formula is combining story/narrative elements and display objects. The result is a good visual displays that can attract visitor to pay more attention and understand the meaning of museum content. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> The method which use in this project research is qualitative method that integrated with design thinking. Understanding the problems that contained in Museum Bahari’s exhibition was done through the empathize and define stage in design thinking by observation, literature review and interview. Studying about museum, museum exhibition and narrative exhibition are done through define stage by making literature review and interviewing the expert. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> The process of developing the design of Museum Bahari exhibition based on edutainment narrative interior is carried out at the ideate and prototype stages by developing revitalization design (renewal design for better quality) with making out the process of designing stories and concepts, narrative interior design methods (ix method, bottom-up, top-down, phenomenology, metaphore, performance and scenography), as well as the exhibition’s media ( 2 dimention, 3 dimention, film and <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> iv <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> audio, interactive, installation and modern technology media) which will be apllied to the Museum Bahari exhibition room. The final phase is to evaluate/testing the design through qualitative evaluation analysis and questionnaire. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> The result of the study is how narrative system can works in the exhibition space relating to stories, concepts, methods and media display in Museum Bahari’s exhibition which is realized through a design (case study: the narrative exhibition of Pertempuran Laut Aru). It is expected that the edutainment narrative interior can be applied as museum display method, so that museum can present a communicative, informative, attractive, interactive, educative and recreative exhibition, so that the museum’s purpose as an edutainment tourism can be achieved. text
