Summary: | Mini Plant Dago Pakar (MP Pakar) is a Drinking Water Treatment Plant located in Dago Pakar, Bandung with a production capacity of 60 L / s. Mini Plant Expert raw water comes from PLN's reservoir which receives water from Cikapundung River flow. Some raw water parameters for Mini Plant Pakar do not meet quality standards, especially parameters relating to organic compounds. Carbon organic compounds are precursors in the formation of trihalomethane (THM) when reacting with free chlorine. Trihalomethane is mutagenic and carcinogenic for humans. The TOC concentration in the raw water of the Mini Plant Pakar reaches 5.37 mg /L so that treatment is needed to remove THM and THM precursors in water. The recommended redesign focus is THM precursor removal, THM removal, disinfection process modification, and the sludge treatment design. Alternative 1 treatment method uses enhanced coagulation, ozonation, and GAC adsorption methods. Alternative 2 uses enhanced coagulation method, PAC coagulant aid, GAC adsorption, chlorine dioxide disinfection and chloramination. Alternative 3 uses enhanced coagulation processing method, GAC adsorption, chlorine dioxide disinfection and chloramination. The selection of the selected treatment configuration is carried out by considering removal efficiency, land requirements, ease of operation, and economic factors. The selected treatment configuration is alternative 2. The selected treatment is estimated to have removal efficiency of 75.8% TOC, and meets TOC recommendations in drinking water based on Ireland EPA which is <2 mg / L, the quality standard of US EPA TTHM of 0.08 mg / L, and TTHM quality standards (as chloroform, bromoform, BDCM, and DBCM) in Permenkes 492/2010 of 0.56 mg / L. |
