Summary: | The manufacturing industry is a significant source of economic income

to Indonesia. In order to advancing the manufacturing industry, Indonesia needs

to learn how to make machine tools and develop them futher. One of the efforts

that can be done is to develop cognitife function in machine tools using electronic

systems and database. With the cognitife function, the machine tool can provide

more information that is useful for users.

This research will focus on the design, manufacture and test cognitife

functions on the TPM D018S bench drilling machine which records machining

process parameters in the database and estimating components life. The

machining process parameters that can be record include the uptime, working

time, number of spindle rotations, along with its electrical energies. Data

obtained from the machine are sent to the server from the sensor module

wirelessly via the MQTT protocol. This data is also used when showing the

estimation of remaining lifetime of bearings on spindles and belts that connect

pulleys.

By researching the development of machine tools, I hope Indonesia will

be able to produce its own machine tools that are comparable with existing

products. |
