Description
Summary:
The research area is located in the SE Mahakam Block, East Kalimantan. The purpose of the research is to evaluate overpressure condition and its implication to hydrocarbon trapping in the area. In order to achieve the objective, pressure data obtained from direct measurements, as well as from indirect indicators have been analyzed. The analysis shows that overpressure in the research area is caused by loading, fluid expansion, and overpressure transference. The occurrence of overpressure is controlled by facies distribution (sand – shale ratio) and geologic structure located in the southeastern part of the research area. The presence of shallow overpressure in Trekulu Anticline is potential to cause radial hydrodynamic flow, away from the anticlinal crest. The hydrodynamic analysis shows that carbonate build up has potential to be hydrodynamic trap due to hydrodynamic in structural trap has already proven in Peciko and Stupa Anticline in the eastern part. The hydrodynamic trap is thought to be present in the southeastern part of the research area, because the anticlinal structure is present. Evaluation result describe that the Perintis Anticline, located in the southeastern part of the study area has no potential to contain hydrodynamic trap due to no reservoir layer is outcropping in the seabed as the exit point
