Description
Summary:
The construction sector has a strategic role in Indonesia's development with the

value of construction investment increasing every year. The increased value of

construction investment in Indonesia as the development of modeling based

technology or BIM (Building Information Modeling) in the world construction

industry. BIM is believed to have many benefits in the management of

construction projects, but its implementation in Indonesia is still relatively low.

Some countries that have implemented BIM have already developed BIM's

implementation roadmap as one of the strategies to improve implementation in the

country. Although Indonesia already has a BIM implementation roadmap, the

BIM implementation roadmap is not yet based on the maturity level of the

existing construction industry condition, thus not having a good enough effect on

the performance of the construction industry in Indonesia. Therefore, it is

necessary to study the study of roadmap development of BIM implementation

based on maturity level in Indonesia.

This study aims to evaluate the level of maturity and roadmap of BIM

implementation in Indonesia, to be utilized in developing better BIM

implementation strategy. The research method is a qualitative method with three

stages of research, the first stage aims to identify the BIM maturity level in

Indonesia and the factors that influence it. The second phase aims to develop a

BIM implementation roadmap based on the current BIM maturity level in

Indonesia as well as the direction of roadmap development gained from best

practice roadmap implementation in several countries. And the third stage is

validation of research to ensure the direction of recommendations in accordance

with the real needs of BIM implementation in Indonesia.

From the first stage of research, it is known that the level of maturity of BIM in

Indonesia is still at level 1 (object-based modeling) that is to level maturity level 2

of 5 level maturity used in evaluation process. The low level of maturity is due to

the uneven implementation of BIM in all project stakeholders in Indonesia.

Internally, the cases show significant difference in maturity index. Data collected

from some key stakeholders of the Indonesian construction industry show that the

owner / developer has a higher level of maturity when compared to consultants

and contractors. This shows the direction of positive implementation because the

majority of projects are from the owner / developer, so the number of projects

with BIM implementation is expected to continue to grow as more owners /

developers understand the importance of BIM implementation. The second phase

of research begins by conducting a best practice study on the development of BIM

implementation road in several countries in the world. From the second stage of

the research, BIM implementation roadmap is developed in Indonesia based on

maturity level and also best practice roadmap of BIM implementation. The results

of the best practice evaluation show that the duration of the roadmap ranges from

4 to 5 years. The results of the study show that some of the strategies that need to

be incorporated into the development of the BIM implementation roadmap

include: (1) preparation of BIM implementation plans / strategies, (2) BIM

implementation by government in the public sector, (3) development of standards,

guidelines, protocols, curricula, accreditation or contractual BIM, (4) movement

and promotion of BIM use, (5) mandatory implementation of BIM nationally.

And from the results of the third stage of research in the form of validation,

obtained the results of interviews that all experts argue that the results of research

have been in accordance with the conditions and needs of the current

implementation of BIM.
