Many new wood watch brand started to emerge in Indonesia with its own unique characteristics. Pala Nusantara is one of the new wood watch brand in Indonesia. Pala Nusantara aims a particular kind of customer to sell its wood watch which is customer age 17-25 years old. A pilot study is conducted and it is discovered that Pala Nusantara’s products are not chosen as the preferred product by the targeted customer. Therefore, a research is conducted to propose the appropriate wood watch design guidance for the targeted customer.

The research is conducted using Kansei Engineering method. Kansei words identification is conducted to grasp customer’s feeling and emotion toward wood watch, then the kansei words will be used in the product sample evaluation process. There are 24 respondents who participate in the kansei words identification process. There are about 191 kansei words which are successfully collected and that kansei words grouped into 16 smaller kansei words. Furthermore evaluation process is conducted using questionnaire. Because of the lack of stimuli used in the evaluation, only 10 from 16 kansei words are able to be used to evaluate three product samples. There are 62 respondents who participate in the evaluation process. After that, kansei words will be linked together with product properties using the outcome of the evaluation process. This process will be conducted after the factors underlying the kansei words have been determined.

The result of this research is the discovery of three factors which considered critical by targeted customer in wood watch and the product properties related to the kansei of customer. Three factors which discovered in the research is represented by three different wood watch sample products. The three factors are “esthetics”, “easiness of use”, and “appearance”. Product properties which related to the konsumen’s kansei are case, hand, dial, strap, bezel, numeral, and date window. This product properties then determine the proposed improvement design of wood watch. text
