Summary: |
The research area is located in Ciburuy Village, West Bandung Regency, West Java Province with an area of 64𝐾𝑚2. Research conducted has the objective to determine the condition of geology, geomorphology, structural geology, geological history, and the potential of natural resources and geological hazards in the study area.To achieve these objectives, petrographic analysis, microfossil analysis, and geological structure analysis. Geomorphology of the research area are divided into five geomorphology units and units boundary are based on the aspects of morphography, morphometry, and morphogenetic, that is geomorphological units are Mountain Volcanic Hills, Karst Hills, Intrusion Hills, Homoclin Valleys, and Homoclin Hills. Stratigraphy of research area based on unofficial litho-body unit divided into four rock units. From the elderly to the younger are Claystone Unit, Limestone Unit, Sandstone Unit, Andesite Intrusions Unit, Volcanic Breccia Unit, Tuff Sandstone Unit. The main geological structure on the research area is Mountmasigit fault that has southwest – northeast pattern. The geological history of the study area begins at the time of the late Oligocene, which is a unit of claystone in a shallow marine deposition. Then at Early Miocene, limestone deposition occurs, the growth of limestone in Early Miocene stops caused by sea level rise which resulted in the sedimentation process that deposition of sedimentary materials dominated by sandstones. At Miocene - Pliocene occurs tectonic activity Mountmasigit reverse fault which causes claystones, limestones, and sandstones lifted to the surface. The existence of this reverse fault convinced a weak zone which resulted in andesite intrusion breaking into the surface. At Quarternary, volcanic eruption activity that produced volcanism products in the form of volcanic breccia and tuff. Geological resources in research are limestone and sandstone that used as building materials, such as ceramic making and home decoration.
|
