Dominance Type - Pioneering Plant Type and Power of Seedbank Regeneration on Post-Bauxite Mining Land in Ciandum Beach, Tasikmalaya, West Java
The beach in Ciandum Village suffered damage due to bauxite mining which allegedly changed land cover and inhibited its natural regeration. The purpose of this study was to determine the structure of vegetation and the natural regeneration process of land after bauxite mining in Ciandum Beach. Data...

The purpose of this study was to determine the structure of vegetation and the natural regeneration process of land after bauxite mining in Ciandum Beach. Data collection used systematic sampling method on 24 plots in post-bauxite mining and 6 plots in the natural coastal forest of Cikabodasan Beach (as a comparison) measuring 20x20 m. The results showed that there was a change in ecosystem, a similarity index of vegetation on Ciandum Beach with a natural coastal forest in Cikabodasan Beach of 2%. Post-mining land is dominated by shrubs and herbs. Shrub species dominating the land after the highest bauxite mining were Mimosa pudica (87.43%), Ipomoea pescaprae (42.11%), and Calotropis gigantea (23.05%), while herbaceous species were Thuarea involuta (37 , 48%), Oryza sativa (22.92%), and Cynodon dactylon (19.14%). The results of seed identification in the seedbank obtained 12 types of seeds and the seed density value in the soil seedbank is 1,1x108 seedbanks / ha. The highest power of germination in the soil seedbank on the land after the bauxite mining of Ciandum Beach is 43.24%. This identifies that there has been an obstacle to regeneration over the past 7 years, so it is necessary to carry out restoration activities of pioneer plant species that have a dominance and high germination value. text |
