Summary: | <p align="justify">Plant reproduction phenology is indicated by the presence of flower or fruit. Each species and individual has a different reproductive period based on the development stage (species matureness) and environmental conditions. This study aims to examine phenology patterns, determine the period of seed harvesting for forest restoration purposes and find out the availability of food for the animal community. The study was conducted on one hectare permanent plot in the Cisupabereum area, Mount Papandayan Nature Reserve. All individual trees with diameter more than 5cm were observed for their phenological phases every two weeks for six months (February - July 2018). The phenological phase observed is the phase of flowering, flowering-fruiting and fruiting. The plot identified 34 species and 19 families of local Papandayan flora. Observation results found eight flowering species at a diameter of more than 10cm, other 21 species flowering at diameter of 5-10cm, five species observed not flowering. The peak of the flowering phase is at the end of March and May. The flowering-fruiting phase reaches the peak in late May and June, while the fruiting phase at the end of July. From observations made during February-July 2018, it was concluded that the right time for seed harvesting was in July. Natural forest communities provide several types of food sources for animal communities such as young leaves, nectar and fruit. The appearance of mammals and avifauna during observation indicates that the availability of feed is maintained.<p align="justify"> |
