Summary: | Plastic has become an issue in municipal waste management. The proportion of multilayer plastic has high proportion compared to municipal plastic waste that
discarded to TPS. The recovery potential of multilayer plastic by informal sector is still low. Multilayer plastic for food packaging generally consist of LDPE film, PP, adhesive, and aluminium foil. The aims of this study are to convert and to analyze the potential of valorization of waste using thermal-pyrolysis conversion using batch reactor that will generate liquid, gas, and secondary aluminium solid. The pyrolysis reactor was conducted in the range of temperature 350oC to 425oC for 60 until 120 minutes. The result compared with those obtained in the process using zeolite catalyst with variation dose 5, 10, 15, and 50% (w/w) of multilayer plastic. Based on statistic analysis, the temperature 400oC could be used for the catalysed process. The result through temperature and duration processing time showed that 425oC and 120 minutes generated liquid and gas product 30.2 % and 5.99% respectively. While the temperature 350oC generated residue up to 97.34%. The
result through dose of catalyst 5 and 10% showed increasing product liquid trend 32,25 and 33,9% respectively. While dose of catalyst 15 and 50% showed the increasing of product 28,69 and 26,68% respectively. |
