Description
Summary:
The aim of this research is to understanding the relationship between SAR polarimetric data and soil moisture, defining material eruption distribution area, and determining the eruption material based on soil moisture retrieved from SAR polarimetric C-band Sentinel-1A satellite as the primer data in agricultural area Sinabung Volcanic. The method this research used to retrieve soil moisture using satellite is Srivastava’s model (2005) for defining surface roughness and substitution of Dubois method (1995) for dielectric constant value, while to retrieving soil moisture value used Topp equation (1980). The result shows there are the difference pattern in soil moisture distribution from each multi-temporal images. Eruption material distribution area that obtained by ratio technique is located in eastern until southern sector of the volcano. It is shown the suitableness with the field data and Sinabung Volcanic’s topographic. There is the same pattern between the soil moisture and the number of daily eruption of Sinabung Volcanic’s graph. Based on eruption material distribution ratio crosstrack profile, the eruption material that was released in eruption material distribution area consists of lava and pyroclastic, while volcanic ash reaches the quite far area from Sinabung Volcanic.
