Description
Summary:Research on watercraft propulsion has been conducted since 19th century. In 20th

century a lot of research and development focus on increasing efficiency and

controlling cavitation. Conventional propellers have cavitation issue while the

vessel achieve 30 knots (15m/s). Water-jet propulsion is a solution for vessel

faster than 30 knots.

Based on design requirement, calculation of pump for water-jet propulsion, design

geometry, and implementation at underwater watercraft will be done. This report

will reviewed about geometry, performance, and characteristic of pump.

Furthermore, this report focus on the effect of non linear screw impeller to

performance of water-jet propulsion and prediction of cavitaton. The performance

such as thrust force, torque, shaft power, and propulsive efficiency will be

observed. The result of this research is expected to help future research in design

or development of high speed watercraft propulsion.
