RESEARCH OF INFLUENCE THE DEVELOPMENT OF TANJUNG API-API SPECIAL ECONOMIC ZONES ON THE ECONOMY OF SOUTH SUMATRA

<p align="justify">Acceleration and expansion of regional and national economic development realized by the Central Government by stipulating the Law of the Republic of Indonesia number 39 of 2009 on Special Economic Zones. Development of Tanjung Api-api SEZ as a regional development approach aimed at balancing development among regions in Indonesia to be more just and equitable based on the potentials in each region. Implementation of the law through the preparation of several areas that have geo-economic and geostrategic advantages. <br /> <br /> <br /> The objectives of the research are 1) to describe the economy of South Sumatera Province dynamics, 2) to analyze the influencing elements in the development of Tanjung Api-api SEZ to overcome the economic development problems of South Sumatera Province; and 3) to develop scenarios or policy strategies to obtain desired economic condition as the influence of Tanjung Api-api SEZ development in order to overcome the problems of economic development that occurred. <br /> <br /> <br /> This research uses the System Dynamics methodology, because it can illustrate the complexity of the phenomenon under study which is illustrated by the built model. In addition, this method can also describe the relationship between the elements that affect the economy of South Sumatra. Several policy scenarios are applied to the model to be simulated in order to obtain policy options in accordance with expected economic conditions of South Sumatra. <br /> <br /> <br /> The results show that the development of Tanjung Api-api SEZ has not been able to give significant impact to the economy and the reduction of unemployment rate in South Sumatera Province if its development only develop industrial sector without doing policy intervention to other sectors. It is also illustrated that the development of Tanjung Api-api SEZ has not been able to erode the sectoral wage gap that occurred in South Sumatra Province, while the sectoral wage is one of the parameters of economic inequality which is the homework for related stakeholders, especially the government to be staged in order to achieve equitable welfare in economic development. <br /> <br /> <br /> Policy strategy that can be an option in the development of Tanjung Api-api SEZ to improve the economic development problems and achieve the desired <br /> <br /> economic condition with Increased sector productivity, by providing supporting infrastructure to achieve productivity improvement, increasing investment by reducing the delay on investment. Developing labor-intensive industries for employment. Improving the quality of human resources through improvement of the education system that leads to the world of work, improvement of educational infrastructure, improvement of health services and wage policies that are in favor of non-entrepreneurs. <br /> <br /> <br /> The development of Tanjung Api-api SEZ should not only focus on the industrial sector but also need policy intervention in other supporting sectors to synchronize and inter-sectoral connections, thus creating an interdependent and profitable business climate that will make the wheels of the economy run for achieve increased regional income and poverty alleviation to prosperous society equally in economic development. <p align="justify">
