Siak Sri Indrapura City is known as the early history of the founding of Kerajaan Siak which was the islam malay kingdom in the 17th century. Siak Palace is one of heritage relics of the kingdom that became the pride of its people. From history it can be found that Siak has many heritage relics and malay culture that is very potential to be developed and preserved, one of them through tourism. But now the existence of heritage objects has not been widely known by the public. This final project document is a study that can support the development of tourism in the region based on supply and demand aspects. The purpose of this final project is to design a heritage trail in Sungai Jantan area as one of the development strategy that connects some object of Siak City heritage so that visitors who come can be distributed evenly while also spreading Siak City heritage information to the visitors of this area. This study takes place in the riverfront area of Siak City because the existence of a heritage potential that is the heritage of Kerajaan Siak with Sungai Jantan (Sungai Siak) as the main characteristic and the place where the heritage of Siak Kingdom spread. The potential is also supported by people's lives in Siak not apart from the important role of Sungai Siak which has become the main trade route since the 17th century. According to the long term development plan, Siak's vision is to make Siak as a center of malay culture in Riau Province. But in its development heritage tourism is often not attract visitors. Therefore, this study is trying to count and link the visitor's perception in planning the heritage trail design. <br />

This final project uses a mix method approach between quantitative and qualitative. Quantitative approach is used to analyze demand to know the perception of visitors through descriptive statistic analysis by giving questionnaires 103 to visitors. Qualitative approach used for the analysis of Siak City heritage destinations consist of heritage object analysis based on the observation of the existing condition; analysis of tourism supporting facilities based on the results of questionnaires and existing observation results. This document also analyzes the riverfront supporting elements consists of waterfront elements, pedestrian, dock/jetty, building above the water or build islands, bridges, open spaces and activities in the region; and analysis of accessibility around and within the region. The last is the analysis of heritage trail planning to produce the design trail for heritage area of Siak River riverfront. <br />

The results of this final project document include the planning and design of the heritage trail which includes focus and target groups, selected heritage objects, route draft and supporting facilities. Planning focus and target group Siak City heritage trail based on the result of questionnaires is visitors aged 21-30 years. Planning the selected heritage objects by choosing similar theme objects, consist of nine primary heritage objects namely Istana Siak, Jembatan Istana Kerajaan Siak, Masjid Syahabuddin, Sultan Syarif Kasim II graveyard, Balai Kerapatan, Sultanah Latifah School, Koto Tinggi graveyard, Mesiu storage of Kerajaan Siak, dan Klenteng Hock Siu Kiong, and two secondary heritage objects as supporting areas are Tepian Bandar Sungai Jantan and chinatown. Routes include circulation trail planning that connects objects with supporting facilities such as toilets, mosques, souvenirs, food and drink retails, and some gazebo / shelter as a resting place. <br />

Planning the trail on the study site as one of the tourism development strategy is expected to increase visitor interest to come to Siak City and become a place to learn about the malay history as well as raising awareness of heritage tourism object of Siak City. <br />
