Description
Summary:Determining the physical properties of rocks is very important to know the characteristics of a reservoir so that it can determine to be exploit or not. Rocks have several physical parameters, such as porosity, tortuosity and permeability. The physical parameters that will be discussed in this study are the meandering parameter. The meandering parameter is used as the level of complexity which also results in a porous media resistance to drain a fluid. The more winding a lane, the more complex the feed will also be the porous media structure of the pathway. Calculation of the parameters of use used is a calculation that can represent not only the length of the track path, but also the complexity of the pathway, namely by the modification of the tortuosity calculation method by Dougherty and corrected by Hillel. To do this, a fluid simulation with the Lattice Boltzmann method was carried out on a porous medium to obtain a velocity vector to obtain the flow path of the fluid in the porous media. The method for obtaining the fluid flow path is obtained by streamlined determination. Then the determination of the angularity of the curvature is then used to calculate the parameter value of the curvature. The value of the curvature parameter is calculated for all streamlines that are on the porous media for later averaging. Then it will be compared to the average method which is best to represent the tortuosity of porous media. At the end, the relationship between tortuosity and permeability will be determined. The porous media to be used is a digital sample whose permeability is known.
