Total faults on the transmission network is more than the components of the power system to another. Faults on the transmission network can be caused by the weather and short circuit, which can be caused by tree branch or other object. In recent years, researcher begins to develop techniques and algorithms to estimate and determine the location of the fault by using fault locator. However, the accuracy of fault locator is a new concern. This research uses specialized software to model the transmission line with a parameter that represents the actual transmission line. The purpose of this research is to determine the location of the short circuit on the extra high voltage overheadlines 500 kV Tasikmalaya-Depok based on wavelet transform using ATP-EMTP and MATLAB. From the simulation results using ATP-EMTP, currents and voltage waveforms are obtained for each phase in both the sending and receiving side. Current and voltage wave results are processed using MATLAB to perform wavelet transform. From the results of the wavelet transform, the fault classification and fault location can be determined also it will be the base of the product which will be made and has higher accuration that the other existing product. text |
