Description
Summary:
Traffic accidents are one of the biggest causes of injury and death in Indonesia. Accident prevention is carried out based on data collected during the investigation. The authority to conduct a traffic accident investigation is owned by two institutions, namely the Police (for the national level the investigation is carried out by the Traffic Police Corps, while the area by the Traffic Unit) and Komite Nasional Keselamatan Transportasi (KNKT). Investigations conducted by these two institutions have not been able to produce data that can be used for preventive action interventions. The purpose of this research is to design a method that can bridge the gap between the data produced by the investigation and data that can be used for intervention. The intervention is an ergonomic intervention, which takes concern about safety, design and human factors.

The investigation method is based on studies related to the investigation of traffic accidents. Accident data is obtained from the KNKT investigation report and the Police Inspection Report (BAP). Method design is carried out on two things, namely: determining the investigation team members and investigative steps. The design of the investigation step includes the design of variables collected during the investigation, interviews to get the elements of Performance Influence Factors (PIF) and the coding of accident variables.

Testing of the design results is carried out in two ways, namely the comparative method and validation test and the useabilty of the method. Method use tests are conducted in cases that have been investigated by KNKT and the Police. Test the use of KNKT case method for the overall investigation step, while the interview

test was conducted in the case handled by the police. The results of the test using the method show that the use of this research investigation enriches the results of the investigation. Information related to human factors and organitation that contribute to traffic accidents is more common.

The next test is the validation test and the usabilty of the method. The test was carried out by involving a group of people who had been involved in an accident investigation by the police. Such involvement can be as investigators, assistant investigators and experts. The test results show that the group's assessment is located between agreeing and agreeing to the validity and usability for this investigation method. This shows that the investigation method has been able to fulfill the objectives and research question of this research.
