Summary: |
Academic Information System (SIA) or commonly called SIX ITB is an information system which is instensively accessed by ITB students, particularly at the beginning of semesters. Students interact with the system to select courses in their study plan for the coming semester. However, there are several user experience issues related to SIX, such as the overloaded server because of too many users that simultaneously access to the system, unpractical workflow for selecting courses, improper arrangement of information display, and students still have to compete each other for obtaining compulsory courses. This paper proposes a design solution to overcome the problems. By applying User Centered Design (UCD), the solutions meet the requirements ITB students. While following the steps in UCD, the author is assisted with several tools such as questionnaires, interviews and usability testing that the parameters inside are represent the aspects of user experience. From the assessment, there were several problems found. A number of solutions have emerged that are made into prototypes (low-fidelity and high fidelity). The prototype solution trial shows an increase in user satisfaction levels of 30.7% based on the parameters used.
|
