One of those cooperations is Technical Assistance Contract (TAC), which is specialized to re-produce Pertamina’s mature fields that have been abandoned due to economic or technical reasons. In the TAC, risks and operational costs are borne by contractor and will be recovered if the cooperation produces oil. Therefore, TAC is a win-win solution for contractor, Pertamina, and Government.

Field X is an example of Pertamina’s mature field that will be re-produced by TAC. In this study, we are going to determine the most profitable scenario and calculate the profit can be gained by contrator, Pertamina, dan Government from that TAC. However, before that, we have to determine the relationship between depth and operational costs that can be used to estimate the operational costs needed by re-producing Field X. In the end, we will determine several policies that could boost contractor’s interest regarding the TAC.

Based on annual survey data tabulations, it is known that the operational costs can be estimated as a function of depth. Then, the estimated operational costs are used to calculate contractor, Pertamina, dan Government cashflow. By comparing NPV, IRR, POT, and PI between those 3 scenarios and performing incremental analysis, it can be concluded that infill scenario is the most profitable scenario to re-produce Field X. In addition, offering Investment Credit (IC), increasing contractor share, and raising DMO fee will positively affect contractor’s interest to re-produce Pertamina’s mature fields by TAC. text
