Description
Summary:
The increase of usage of the helicopter as air transportation makes opportunities of incident increasing. Most cases of helicopter accidents is helicopter fell and break lower structure of fuselage use to call subfloor due to vertical dynamic loads. To improve the rotorcraft crashworthiness and reduce the injury of the passanger, an rotorcraft crashworthiness study was conducted. One of the ways increasing energy management of aircraft absorbtion against impact is by optimizing the energy absorbent structure. Improving the energy absorbent structure can be done by using lattice geometry as energy absober structure.

The lattice structure is one promised to use in application types of energy absorbent structure. This thesis focuses on the characterization of dynamic loads on octet-truss lattice and their application to helicopter subfloor structures. Numerical analysis had been use to compare crashbox structure, uniform pile octet-lattice and double taper pile octet-lattice as energy absorbent structure. With the additive manufacturing technology, lattice structures can be easily used using selective laser sintering (SLS) technique. The material used in numerical simulation is aluminum alloy AlSi-12 by SLS manufacturing. The results of energy absorbtion on lattice subfloor structure will be compared with the conventional crashbox subfloor structure. After finite element analysis done, we can see which structure has the highest specific energy absorb. The result show double taper pile octet-lattice has the greatest specific energy absorption with 34.44 kJ/kg . These results indicate the suitability of the lattice structure as an energy absorber for the rotoraircraft in the future.
