Summary: |
Installation of submarine communication cable in the water area is not as easy as do it on the mainland. The good planning is needed so that the entire cabling process runs effectively. The selection of submarine cable route need to consider several variables such as the depth and slope of the seafloor. These variables can be obtained through bathymetric survey using Multibeam Echosounder (MBES). The results from the depth measurement using MBES is a set of the depth points that show the seabed surface. In this study, an analysis of the depth and slope of the seafloor will be carried out into consideration in the installation of submarine cable. Each variable is grouped into several classes which are then given weight for each class. Through the spatial analysis process, a cable route will be formed according to the weight that given to each variable. The route that formed is expected to become as a reference model that used in submarine communication cable installation.
|
