Pines tree resin can be processed into turpentine oil and "gondorukem". Turpentine oil can be used as pain, varnish, and organic solvent while "gondorukem" can be used as manufacturing of polymer resin. Turpentine oil is a mixture of hydrocarbon monoterpene compound which have main component alpha pinene, beta pinene, limonene, and delta careen. Turpentine oil has many derivatives which have many useability and can be sell at high price and of them is terpineol. Terpineol commonly can be produced by hydrating alpha pinene with strong acid used as catalyst. Terpineol can be used as disinfectant, cleaner, essence, and pharmaceutical ingredients. There are two methods to produce terpineol from turpentine. Perhutani Pine Chemical Indonesia in Pemalang use this two methods to produce terpineol. First method use two step reaction, first step is hydrating turpentine become terpine hydrate solid and then second step is dehydrating terpine hydrate solid to get terpineol. This method is less likely because contain phase changing (liquid-solid), long time raction (between 16 hour), and use toluene as a solvent in dehydrating process. Because of that, second method is developed which is easier and priceless.The second method is just using one step reaction which is hydrating turpentine into terpineol. The temperature reaction is high and reaction time is just a few hours. The acid catalyst type and composition, reaction time and temperature is important to decide selectivity, conversion, and yield percentage. <br /> <br /> <br /> This research have purpose to get terpineol from turpentine with high selectivity, conversion, and yield percentage. The experimental method have to be done in three stages. Stage one is mixing turpentine with water and acid catalyst. After that, separating acid and water residue in the mixture. And the final step is analyzed the composition of final mixture with Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS). Variation in this experiment is the type of catalyst acid, hydration time (4, 6, and 8 h), and hydration temperature (60oC, 70oC, and 80oC). The result of this experiment is expected to increase the productivity of terpineol in turpentine industry. <p align="justify"> <br /> text
