Cysteine <br /> <br /> is o <br /> <br /> ne of the amino acids contained in the active side of <br /> <br /> PTP. In this study we studied the ability of the oxovanadium (IV) <br /> <br /> - <br /> <br /> acetylacetone, [VO(acac) <br /> <br /> 2 <br /> <br /> ] <br /> <br /> and oxovanadium(IV) <br /> <br /> - <br /> <br /> salen, [VO(salen)] complexes to oxidize cysteine <br /> <br /> to cystine. This is one <br /> <br /> model of in vi <br /> <br /> tro study to study the potential of a complex as a type 2 antidibetic. Two complex <br /> <br /> compounds that have been synthesized in this study are complex [VO(acac) <br /> <br /> 2 <br /> <br /> ] and complex <br /> <br /> [VO(salen)]. The two complex compounds have been characterized by IR, UV <br /> <br /> - <br /> <br /> Vis, MSB and <br /> <br /> elemental analysis. Both complex compounds are paramagnetic. The ability of both complexes <br /> <br /> as cysteine <br /> <br /> oxidators has been studied in buffer buffer pH 7.4 at 37 ° C. <br /> <br /> The results of FT <br /> <br /> - <br /> <br /> IR <br /> <br /> characterization of cysteine oxidation products by the complex [VO(a <br /> <br /> cac) <br /> <br /> 2 <br /> <br /> ] and [VO(salen)] <br /> <br /> showed the same absorption at wave number 540 <br /> <br /> , <br /> <br /> 11 cm <br /> <br /> - <br /> <br /> 1.
