Summary:<b>ABSTRACT:</b><br> <br /> <br /> Three secondary metabolites, namely (s-sitosterol, a sterol containing an c,r-unsaturated carbonyl function, and an aromatic compound had been isolated from-=the tree <br /> bark of Cryptocarya fusco-pilosa Techner. Further, two <br /> sterols, namely fl-sitosterol and stigmasterol and a <br /> benzyltetrahydroisoquinoline akaloid, had also been isolated from the tree bark of Cryptocarya ferrea HI. The structure of the sterols had been established based on spectroscopic data.</p> The structure of the a,f9 -unsaturated carbonyl and the aromatic compounds have not yet been established, awaiting further spectroscopic data. While, the structure of benzyltetrahydroisoquinoline alakaloid could not be established, because a pure compound was not yet obtained.
