| Summary: | <p align="justify">Detail geologic mapping had been done in Karanganyar area, Purwanegara Sub-Disctrict, Banjarnegara District, Central Java Province which is located on 9173000-9179000 mN and 342000-351000 mE on UTM coordinate. This research aims to identifying geological setting and melange complex characteristics of research area by using detail mapping on a scale of 1:2.500 and 1:5.000. The morphology of research area consists of plain, hills, and ranges controlled by lithology. The oldest unit in this area is Melange Complex which is product of subduction by Indo-Australia Plate to Eurasia Plate which is happened in Late Cretaceous-Paleogene, <br />
and have a tectonic contact which is thrust fault with Clay Breccia Unit dated Early-Late Oligocene. The next unit above this unit is Volcanic Breccia Unit and Tuff Unit which is dated Early-Middle Miocene. The youngest unit in research area is Pyroclastic Breccia Unit which is dated Pliocene-Pleistocene, overlying unconformably above all units in this area. Geological structure developing in this area is thrust fault trending NW-SE and other minor structures such as boudinages, slaty cleavages, and shear fractures. Melange Complex is characterized by boudinaged blocks, consist by ophiolite series rocks, pelagic sedimentary rocks, and various metamorphic rocks embedded tectonically sheared siltstone-claystone matrix.<p align="justify"> |
