Description
Summary:The properties of coalbed methane (CBM) reservoir is very important to be known in production estimation. Its value is also important in designing hydraulic fracturing and fracturing geometry optimization. Although the permeability value from the core and logs are often to be used, the value is irrelevant to estimate the overall performance of the well. Well testing is a superior method but it is problematic if the well does not flow due to very small permeability and long duration.

The use of diagnostic fracture injection test (DFIT) as a test method in CBM wells have been known to overcome the weaknesses in conventional testing methods. Therefore, this article will show the results of a DFIT performed on CBM wells Field X, then do the Pre-closure and after-closure analysis based on existing basic theory to obtain the reservoir properties needed more quickly than the conventional well testing method. Furthermore, this paper also analyzes the differences and the lack of results obtained compared to the existing basic theory so a better data processing can be implemented in the future.
