Summary: |
GS-25CrMo4 steel is a material used for bucket tooth adaptor components in excavators by PT. Pindad (Persero) as required by PT. Pamapersada Nusantara. Bucket tooth adaptor is exposed to the abrasive condition that it requires an excellent mechanical properties. Therefore, PT. Pindad (Persero) stipulates that the components hardness is 26 - 32 HRC and Charpy V Notch impact resistance above 32 Joule. To meet those requirements, the quench and temper hear treatments were done. The experiment was carried out by heating the steel at austenitization temperature and then quenching into the water as a cooling medium. The tempering is done at temperatures of 200oC, 300oC, 400oC, 500oC, 600oC to find the optimal temperature. Hardness testing results indicated a decline as the tempering temperature is rising. Metallographic results show changes in microstructure before and after heat treatments. The impact test on specimens shows that tempering at 300oC has a lower impact resistance than the As-Quenched and specimens tempered at 300oC shows the highest among all. In conclusion, 500-600oC is the optimum tempering temperature to meet specification from PT. Pindad (Persero).
|
