Summary:This study aims to exploit the local resources of Majalengka Regency as natural dye and inspiration of peculiar batik ornaments of Taruna Batik, Loji, Jatiwangi, Majalengka. The inspiration of motifs based on natural and cultural resources that can be found in Jatiwangi and Majalengka. From the studies that have been done, it was known some objects that could be developed into batik motifs such as teak trees, mango gedong, green beans, tile, and curug (waterfall). The Varieties of ornaments that have been made then were compiled into the composition of batik motifs. <br /> <br /> Besides as inspiration of ornamental variety, Majalengka also has local resources that can be utilized as natural dyes such as teak leaves, mango leaves, mahogany bark, and red wood known as secang (from Kuningan Regency that is directly adjacent to Majalengka). Through a series experiments with various materials of cotton, lyocel, silk, and linen fabrics, it was found that silk and linen fabrics are able to absorb the pigments well and stable. The next process is, exploration to combining the results of natural dye experiments and motifs for batik natural dye. The final product is batik textile shawl with natural dye for wall hanging with alternative peculiar batik motifs of Majalengka.
