Enhanced oil recovery can be done to improve the productivity of oil in a field that is no longer able to produce naturally whereas the remaining oil reserves are still economical to be produced. Oil recovery enhancement methods can also be applied in the initial production of a reservoir if the production with enhanced oil recovery is considered more profitable than production naturally. Enhanced oil recovery can be divided into several methods depending on the type of external energy injected. One method that can be applied in the field is the polymer injection. Polymer injection consists of the injection of the polymer solution to increase the viscosity of the injected water. Increasing the viscosity of water would also reduce the permeability of aqueous phase that will lead to a decrease in the water-oil mobility ratio.

The thesis is arranged to discuss the production and injection performance predictions and injection rate of polymer design optimization using an analytical model named Polymer Flood Predictive Model. Performance prediction is used for determining oil recovery, volume of produced water, and polymer injection rate. Sensitivity study is conducted for polymer injection rate optimization process so able to produce the optimum oil recovery factor. text
