Summary:<p align="justify">Thesis aimed to formulate the design of tourism facilities of Trowulan by using unvolumetric architecture design approach. The design case is located on Trowulan district of Mojokerto, Jawa Timur. It has known well as urban archaeological sites of Majapahit Kingdom era (1293-1512 CE) that identified in 9x11 km2. The design program and development based on evaluating how great the tangible and the intangible effects of the ancient city of Hindu-Buddha era can be conveyed over the landscapes nowadays. Therefore, the characteristics of the landscapes are the significances only to develop further in design. <br /> <br /> Literature and field study used for analyzing the design ideas. Literature study, first, is set to understand how specific the unvolumetric architecture conceptions. Furthermore, it has known as the most appropriate approach in developing the conservation areas such as archaeological sites of Trowulan. Second, it also focused on the reviews to local development and design guidelines. It has done to comprehend how critical the given area developed by the government. Third, field study has done to convey the most identical landscape characters and to compile the actual archaeological research. Finally, the analysis is done by elaborating the tangible and the intangible landscape values, development policies along with the interpretation of historical values to create the tourism facility and development programming of Trowulan. <br /> <br /> Architecturally speaking, the thesis discoveries are first; until today, the vernacular landscape of Trowulan well affected and inherited the impact of the ruins of the ancient city of Majapahit. Second, the design of the tourism facilities focused to preserve the environment ecologically and archaeologically. Third, the design projects is listed as the Trowulan touring routes access facility, the relic and monument-site obsevatories, the open spaces, the meeting and conference facility, the information center, and the building of archaeological research and relic storage facility.<p align="justify">
