Summary: |
Various studies suggest that the quality of the Citarum River had not the meet quality standards. Upstream Citarum River has been polluted by heavy metals. Results not shown the actual pollution because most of the heavy metals are accumulated in sediment or aquatic biota. This study conducted by using river water and sediment to determine the quality of the river then create a simulation of heavy metal pollution in river water when industrial effluent meets effluent standard. Measurements of heavy metals after extracting the water samples (SNI 6989.17: 2009) and sediment (EPA Method 200.2 1994) was performed using AAS. Simulation of heavy metal pollution in the river is done by calculating the mix concentration of heavy metal (river water and industrial effluent). The results showed Upstream Citarum contain heavy metals chromium, copper, and zinc both in the water and sediment of the river from Cisanti Lake to Nanjung. The concentration of heavy metals in sediment is greater than the concentration in the water. In water, the concentration of dissolved metals is smaller than the total metal. Location which has the largest metal concentration is Sapan and Cisirung. The simulation results show that although effluent industry meet the heavy metal effluent standard, stream sandards in some areas remain Unachieved. Stream and effluent standard and river monitoring system need to be evaluated.
|
