Description
Summary:Pertamina University is undergoing an expansion project to increase the capacity of its infrastructure. Pertamina University is located in the densely-populated South Jakarta, which results in difficulties to develop the infrastructure due to the lack of area. Vertical expansion is considered as a more viable option. The expansion is planned to increase the capacity of 1,500 people up to 11,700 people consisting of students and staffs. This increase in population will result in an increase of solid waste generation. As a result, this will demand a proper waste management which implements the concepts of a cleaner production. To achieve such implementation, a new solid waste handling, including waste segregation and viable waste processing technology, will be applied through the establishment of a Solid Waste Treatment Facility inside the campus as an integrated solid waste processing facility. Solid waste generated from every building is segregated into several types of waste, and then transported to the facility. Plastics and Papers are then separated to be recycled. Organic wastes such as food and garden scraps are also separated and prepared to be treated biologically.
