Description
Summary:ABSTRACT:

Study about the measurement of total organic carbon content of soils has been conducted using titrimetry, spectrophotometry and potentiometry procedures. By using spectrophotometry procedure, the total organic carbon of soils was measured aditively as the excess dichromate at maximum wavelength of 211 nm and 350 nm with calibration against similarly treated sucrose standard solution. By using potentiometry method, the total organic carbon of soils was determined by ion selective electrode measuring the carbondioxide gas with PVC membrane.
The measurement can be carried out both using
immersed electrode or air-gap system. The results showed, that the total organic carbon content of soils measured by spectrophotometry procedure tends to be lower compared .to those determined by the standard method, while the total organic carbon content of soils measured by potentiometry procedure tend to be -higher compared to those determined by the standard method. However, there were no differences significantly between
the proposed methods and the standard method.
