ECO-BRIQUETTES FROM WASTE PLASTIC COMPOSITE HIGH DENSITY POLYETHYLENE (HDPE) AND HORSE MANURE AS AN ENVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLY ALTERNATIVE ENERGY BASED ON RENEWABLE RESOURCES

: Horse manure is one of the large quantities of biomass waste which contains high organic matter, namely cellulose 18.11%, hemicellulose 9.71% and lignin 3.13%. The high organic content in horse manure has the potential to be used as an alternative fuel for eco-briquettes through the pyrolysis proc...

The high organic content in horse manure has the potential to be used as an alternative fuel for eco-briquettes through the pyrolysis process. In general, the calorific value of horse manure is relatively low at (17.16 ± 0.17 MJ/kg). In effort to increase the calorific value of horse manure briquette, it is necessary to add a composition of High Density Polyethylene plastic waste which has heating value of (53.74 ± 0.41 MJ/kg). The pyrolysis process use a batch reactor with a pressure of 1 MPA inert gas (N2) with temperature range of 250 to 450oC for 60 minutes. The optimum results were obtained at 350oC which produced charcoal, gas and liquid products respectively 48.43%, 29.56% and 22%. Charcoal products with the highest calorific value of (20.05 ± 0.14 MJ/kg). The best production of eco-briquette for horse manure and HDPE plastic waste obtained in 60 minutes and ratio 90%:10%. Based on statistical analysis, the mixing ratio has a significant effect on heating value that is equal to (30.95 ± 0.24 MJ/kg). Chemical test results has appropriate with the Quality Standard of ESDM Permen No.47 of 2006 in the form of water content, volatile content, ash content and fixed carbon content, respectively of (6.61 ± 0.22%), (70.38 ± 0.12%), (1.58 ± 0.22%) and (21.41 ± 0.44%). text
