Battery Management System (BMS) is a system to monitor and regulate the performance of the battery arrangement to fit the criteria and user expectations. BMS typically is used in conjunction with the components of the battery, charger and load, where BMS as well as connecting the battery to regulate the interaction between the other components. One of the important element of a BMS is the balance of cells that resolve the issue of imbalance in the composition of the battery cell resulting in less than optimal energy use.
This final project is to design an active balancing cell battery using LTC-3300 IC as a MOSFET regulator which then provides the voltage and current to 1:1 transformer to balance each cell. The charging process uses a current of 3.4 A and without use any load. Purpose of this final project is to maximize storage capacity of the battery while charging process.
Testing process use voltage and current sensor that have 0.001 V and 0,01A error number. Active cell balancing battery can increase 466 mAh (1,5%) of storage battery capacity and decrease time of charging process by 1975 seconds.
