Coffee husk was mixed with different amount of rice bran; 0%, 25%, 50% and 75% of dry weight from the total substrate. Media was added with 1-2 gram Ca(OH)2 and 130 ml of water until pH 6-7 and moisture content of 55%-60%. The media was placed inside culture flasks and sterilized by autoclave at 121oC and 1,5 atm. Oyster mushroom on corn media was cultivated on the substrate. The incubation temperature was set at 23oC-25oC. The length of mycelium was measured every 5 days. Level of caffeine, tannin, protein, fat, ash and crude fibre were measured every 20 days. Results showed that coffee husk mixed with rice bran media (25% and 75%) facilitated the degradation of toxic compounds and formation of protein. Oyster mushroom cultivation on the combined media reduces the caffeine content up to 7,3% and 69% tannins, and increased the protein content up to 8%. Valorisation of coffee husk and rice bran may reduce pollutants and produce ruminant feed that is comply with the local standard.

text
