Geologically, KSB Field is a northwest-southeast trending anticline associated with northeast-southwest trending normal faults that is located in KSB Structure, North Sumatera Basin. The studies are focused in Keutapang Formation with two sandstone reservoirs which are Reservoir 1 at the depth of 393.61 – 693.93m and Reservoir 2 at the depth of 361.55 – 663.99m.
The research is intended to determine the reservoir model and estimate original hydrocarbon in place of those resevoirs. Three methods are used in this research: first method is well data analysis by doing well to well correlation using sequence stratigraphy concept, electrofacies analysis from wireline log data and cutting descriptions, and petrophysical analysis; second method is seismic data analysis by depth structure map generation and reservoir geometry determination; third method is reservoir modelling by 3D structure and petrophysical property model generation, fluid contact determination, and original hydrocarbon in place estimation.
Results of those methods are geological condition and original hydrocarbon in place of the reservoir intervals. Each reservoir interval is 30-40m thick of sandstone with intercalated shale. Main structure of KSB Field is a northwest-southeast trending anticline associated with northeast-southwest trending normal faults. Those structures have divided the hydrocarbon accumulation become three compartmentalizations. Depositional facies of Reservoir 1 is a barrier-bar associated with tidal-inlet, whereas Reservoir 2 is shoreface with southwest-northeast direction of sedimentation. The original hydrocarbon in place estimation of those reservoir intervals are 118 MMSTB of oil and 15.509 BSCF of gas.
text
