As well as rural planning, the aim of this planning is also the welfare of its society, which mostly dominated by farmers, either rice farmers, vegetable growers, and others. However, the welfare of farmers and its factors that affect are not fully well-understood yet. Therefore, this research is trying to fully understand farmer's welfare, both in material and non material way, and also its factors that is capability, assets, and farmer's activity, both on rice farmers and vegetable growers. This research focusing on the smallest scale community, which is farmer household, conducted with taking samples to conceive population characteristics of rice farmers in Desa Sukajadi Kecamatan Soreang and vegetable growers in Desa Sukamanah Kecamatan Pangalengan, Kabupaten Bandung. The level of welfare in both villages are satisfactory, where 87% farmers have a high level of material welfare and 13% moderate, whilst 33% farmers have a high level of non material welfare and 52% moderate. By Somer's d analysis, it can be proved that farmer's welfare is affected by capability and their assets. Rice farmer and vegetable grower's welfare condition have a similar trend; the difference between them is only on its percentage because of their different production orientation.<p align = "justify"> text |
