Two main products in PG Wringin Anom are sugar and tetes. PG Wringin Anom produces demand of sugar and tetes through sugar cane milling from its own field and sugar cane that is purchased from farmers. Sugar cane field comes from two regions with different types of sugar. The period of the milling process is done for 6 months (4 periods). The milling period is used to fulfill the demand for one year. PG Wringin Anom produces for demand after milling through sugarcane production in the last milling period (fourth period).

The production process of sugar and tetes is a related process. In other words, when a product is made, other product can also automatically be formed. During this time, PG Wringin Anom has difficulty in determining the suitable amount of sugarcane combination to fulfill demand. This causes the amount of sugar cane that is milled to be greater than the neccessary, so that the cost increases. In fact, at the end of 2015-2017 there were at least 450 tons of sugar and tetes left.

The combination of the sugar cane amount needs to be done to minimize inventory and total costs. In this study, an approach is used by utilizing mathematical models. The mathematical model is formulated according to the problem situation found in the study system. The mathematical model has minimizing total costs as objective function. Through the model, zero inventory of each period is also sought as minimum inventory. That causes the amount of sugar cane can fully complete the demand.

Furthermore, the completion of a mathematical model uses LINGO 17.0 which is integrated with Microsoft Excel 2016. The LINGO software was chosen because it produces an optimal solution.

Based on the research, the result of the approachment shows that total cost is 45% more economical than existing condition. This research also studies regarding company policy in fulfilling demand after the milling period. The result shows that the solution would be better when the demand after milling is distributed evenly during the milling period. The use of the demand fulfillment policy resulted 23% more economical than exsisting policy.

text
