Summary: |
Mopah Airport is one of the facilities whereby aircrafts can take-off and land in the region of Merauke District. The Mopah Airport Passenger Terminal capable of serving 2,180 passengers during peak hours and has been planned to have an area of 40,800 m2.
This final project assignment provides analysis discussions of land improvement on Runway of Mopah Airport and terminal building foundation of Mopah Airport, Merauke. The soil improvement will be done using Prefabricated Vertical Drain, Preloading, and Stone Column.

Preloading is planned to increase the shear strength and decrease the settlement service that occurred. Meanwhile, Prefabricated Vertical Drain planning is intended to accelerate the consolidation process. In this project there is also, a layer consisting of loose saturated sand that potentially liquefy during design earthquake. To mitigate the potential liquefaction, stone columns were designed.

The design process of stone column was based on column capability to dissipate excess pore water pressure in case of earthquake. This can happen because the permeability of the stone column is larger than the surrounding soils. After the stone column design meet the criteria of the designed earthquake, we can also check the ability of the column to increase the bearing capacity of the surrounding soil.

The foundations of the terminal have also been designed. In this case, bored pile foundation was planned to support the upper structure of the terminal. The foundation was designed using LPile and Group software and the reinforcement of the foundation was designed using PCA Column and manual calculation.

Results of analysis prove that the provided design of land improvement on Runway and terminal building foundation of Mopah Airport meet the criteria design.
