Summary: | Cycle of Interlude as the title of this final project, consisting of works that arranged

in “Effortless Meditation” series. All the works on this series is driven and

motivated by the authors’s personal experience of practicing meditation, and also

by the author’s background as a woman and as a part of minority in Indonesia.

That background becomes a daily projection on today’s human relationship as a

citizen in Indonesia, it’s complex, divergent, tendentious, and intolerant these day.

This condition of human relationships bring a lot of friction and trouble as a person.

Giorgio Agamben mentioned it as a form of impoverishment of experience. That

become the author initial though on this project, that if there is a condition cause

by an impoverishment of experience, than the logic to respond this condition is by

enrich the condition with experience. The works in this final project offering art as

an effort to respond through art’s experience.

Using performance art as the medium, following with video performance, printed

works, and performance artefacts that support the main theme on this final project.

The main theme is how art can be seen as a daily activity, art as a ritual, and art

as meditation. The concept is how to visualize the meditative value as part in our

daily activities on artworks. Meditation is become the vehicle towards self-healing

and understanding, body experience, and into a deeper meaning of art and daily

activites as body experience on the art practice.

The experience gained by the author through the periodic performance, as an effort

to represent daily life and present a holistic experience for the author as an artist,

as well as for the audience. So art that become food four our soul and spirit, is

believed have a power to bring an impact of virtue and able to thrill a waves of a

new understanding of consciousness that resonate to a wider society. |
