Summary: | <p align="justify">Public participation was required to create the sustainable solid waste management. To increase the public participation in waste management, supported from other stakeholders was required so that people would realize about their role in waste management. The purpose of this study is to determine how much the influence of built stakeholders towards public participation in solid waste management, especially in the management at the households. The method used was a combination method that combines quantitative and qualitative methods. The collecting data carried out by sampling waste generation at households and waste banks. Besides, the author distributed questionnaires to the 160 people in the study area. From the research we concluded that with the role of built stakeholders, in this research is Lembaga Pengembangan Teknologi Tepat (LPTT), gave effect in the minimization of waste generation at source by providing assistance through the waste bank method. This waste bank could give an impact in waste reduction amounted to 24.744% (by means) of the amount of waste at the source. It could give effect to reduce the operational cost up to IDR 8,000,000 for 38% waste reduction from total at household (per ton waste per year). Affecting factors in waste reduction were the public participation in waste management and their perception about the function of built stakeholders in their neighborhood. In addition, other positive impacts is increasing public knowledge related to waste management, while 19% of people in the study area that has built stakeholders have high level and 81% in the middle level of knowledge. In addition, the influence of built stakeholders also contributed to the people’s behavior at households, which is about 94% in the middle category. The level of public participation towards solid waste management activities in the neighborhood is high enough. Another factors that could affect the public participation were the demographic and socio-economic factors, such as age, gender, education background, occupation and incomes level.<p align="justify"> |
