| Summary: | <p align="justify">Palembang is one of the old city in Indonesia that has a lot of historical sites alongside Musi river. One of them is Kuto Besak fort district, built in 17th century during the Sultanate of Palembang. Since 2004, Kuto Besak Fort district has been planned as the tourist destination. But its development tend to be designed for the riverbank and make the lack of accessibility as its impact, both physically and visually. Besides, the image of the district will not be formed because the lack of utilization of the heritage sites around the fort. Whereas the development can make the utilization of Kuto Besak Fort district and Musi riverbank become synergized as the tourism destination. A place marketing approachment can be adopted to create a new image of the district. <br />
The image of Kuto Besak Fort district can be divided into several theme blocks that have their own character , they are : 1) Museum park theme block, including Sultan Mahmud Badarudin II museum, Monument of Perjuangan Rakyat, and Kuto Besak Fort; 2) Commercial and riverwalk theme block, including Sekanak area ; 3) Recreational theme block, including Musi riverfront ; 4) Office theme block, including Merdeka strret corridor.<p align="justify"> <br />
