Summary: |
Bacterial infection is one of the major health problems in several country. Therefore, an alternative antibacterial agent is need to be the solution. The results of a preliminary test show that Usnea barbata has magneficion potential as an antibacterial. Usnea barbata is a plant that grows well in the tropical climate, especially Indonesia. Atranorin compounds successfully isolated from extract Usnea barbata. Atranorin results from maceration of wood powder and by Liquid Vacuum Chromatography and Radial Chromatography. Powdered Usnea barbata and filtered with Buchner funnels as much as 2 repetitions dried by a rotary evaporator to produce a rough Usnea barbata filtrate. Separation of atranorine compounds was performed using the Radial Chromatography method. Previously, the combined fraction of Usnea barbata had undergone initial conditions by the Liquid Vacuum (KVC) method with silica gel column using eluen n-hexane: ethyl acetate 8.5: 1.5. Atranorin characterization was performed by using Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) and NMR Spectroscopy. The antibacterial test of atranorin compound was performed on 11 kinds of gram positive and gram negative bacteria with atranorin aqueous which then applied by disk diffusion, MIC, and MBC methods. The antibacterial results of the test showed positive results against bacteria Bacillus cereus with minimum inhibitory concentration amount 64 ppm and minimum bactericidal concentration amount 1024 ppm .
|
