Description
Summary:
Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) technology is a more accurate and efficient approach in hydrocarbon exploration, with the more limited of exploration’s amount taken into account. One of the advantages of SAR image utilization is to detect target object (oil window) on the earth surface based on its physical properties. The region of research is some oil windows in Majalengka-Banyumas area.
The methods that used in this research are polarimetric decomposition and classification to pre-processed SAR image as a way to detect target objects. Polarimetric decomposition method that is used is H-α decomposition with entropy and α-angle as its main parameters. The results of H-α decomposition are images that contain entropy, anisotropy, and α-angle information which indicate the backscattering characteristic based on physical properties of target. Polarimetric classification method that is used is unsupervised polarimetric classification H-α Wishart that divides the results of decomposition into 9 zones of backscaterring mechanism. Then overlay process is done between oil window coordinates and results of polarimetric decomposition and classification to identify oil window’s physical properties. Identification of oil window based on polarimetric decomposition and classification indicates oil window stands in a range of values of entropy, anisotropy, and α-angle also within a backscattering mechanism zone.
