The sample

in this study is a family photo of Totok, Peranakan, and Hollands Spreken in

Bandung, with a period of 15 years before and after the events of May 1998

(Reform era). Photos for the Chinese are considered to be an artifact of their

culture, photos can record traces of events experienced by Chinese when they are

engaged. From ancient to present, culture, identity, to behavior in family and

society of Chinese people influenced by the teachings of Confucius (Confucius).

The main teaching of Confucius is to practice the principle of Humanity (Ren)

which involves the aspects of Xiao (human kindness) in which it contains aspects

of Zhong (loyalty) and Shu (not selfish), as well as aspects of Li (ritual) and

aspects of Tian Ming (destiny). In the Aspect of Justice, it contains aspects of

Zeng Ming (justification) and Yi (virtue), which focuses on the harmony of the

family. This study, using qualitative methods with a textual analysis Post Stuctural

as tool, with Frame of Confuciusism. The analysis in this study is divided into two

stages: first stage, using Semiotics C.S. Peirce scalpel, which involves the

understanding of icons and indexes, and includes the categories of "firstness" and
"secondness" in expressing representational tricks, particles, and interpretations

of Chinese Family Photos in Bandung. The second stage, the result of the first

stage is concretized by involving the influence of socio-culture, socio-politics of

Chinese people, and Globalization so as to produce reflection of change of

Chinese identity in Bandung. In this research, there is a finding that after going

through May 1998 event, there are aspects that have not changed in Confucian

teaching to Chinese people in Bandung, namely Justice aspect (Zeng Ming and

Yi), while Humanity aspect (Ren) has many shifts. text
