Description
Summary:One feature of mobile portal vidyanusa is reporting activities, this feature allows

students to report their positive activities outside the classroom so that teachers can

assess their activities outside the classroom. Recording activities using the camera

feature on the smartphone, where the camera technology on the smartphone is

increasing which resulted in the size of the image becomes larger because the resulting

image resolution is greater.

In Indonesia the distribution of information technology, especially bandwidth is not

evenly distributed, there are many areas that have very low bandwidth so it takes a

long time to perform the process of uploading photos. Therefore made compression

system on mobile vidyanusa.

In this study, the compression system was applied to mobile vidyanusa to help students

report their fieldwork. Because the data transmitted has a smaller size thanks to the

compression system. So students wherever they are may be able to report in the

absence of barriers of low bandwidth.

The compression system is classified into 2, ie lossless and lossy. This research will

implement lossless because the capability will not reduce the quality. The deflate

method will be used because this method is a combination of the sliding window

compression method and the huffman coding compression method, so that the

performance is better than both methods.

In the experiments performed, this method resulted in an average compression ratio

of 0.65.
