Description
Summary:Most of the oil fields in Indonesia are brown fields and to increase production in those fields, some methods such as water injection, artificial lifting and Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) implementation are necessary. One of the EOR methods that has been proven successful to be implemented in some fields around the world is CO2 cyclic injection (Huff and Puff). In this study, total oil recovery between producing continuously and using CO2 Huff and Puff method was compared. Then, a sensitivity test of CO2 Huff and Puff operating parameters was conducted to see the effects on oil production. The tested parameters are CO2 injection rate, injection time period, soaking time period and production time period. From the study, the optimum criteria for each operating parameter to increase oil production was determined. Simulation result showed that Huff and Puff method can increase oil RF by 0.26% compared with producing continuously. Sensitivity study results showed that each operating parameter has its own optimum criterion. Oil production will be increased as CO2 injection rate, injection time period, and production time period are increased. Decreasing soaking time period will also increase oil production. Using the optimum operating parameter values, best case simulation result showed an increase of oil RF by 2.97% compared with producing continuously. It can be concluded that CO2 Huff and Puff method can increase oil production and optimizing operating parameters can be done to further increase oil recovery.
