Summary: |
With the release of the 5th Decree of Indonesian People Representative Assembly in 1999, Timor Timur Province had officially disintegrated from The Republic of Indonesia, followed by proclaiming as Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste in 2002. This event led to several status changes for areas around the Timor Island. One of the impacted areas is Indonesian Archipelagic Sea Lane (ASL) IIIA in Ombai Strait, that is located in the border area between Indonesia and Timor-Leste. The purpose of this research is to analyze which segments of the Indonesian ASL IIIA axis that needs to be revised and which areas that could be recommended to be the new location of the axis. The spatial analysis is done by overlaying all criterias that are needed. The result shows that the segments needing to be revised are located in the southeastern part of Alor Island, connecting to and from Point 9 of the Indonesian ASL IIIA axis. In addition, the recommended area for the axis' new location is the conceptually Indonesian waters part of the Indonesian Arcipelagic Sea Lane IIIA passage area. The revision can be done by moving Point 9 of the ASL axis for 7 nautical miles northwestward.
|
