Summary: | About 50% oil reserves aee in sandstone reservoir (Cuong et al, 2013). Oil that produced from lifting process from reservoir to surface facilities needs the appropriate method with field condition. Once of method that used for improving oil recovery is EOR (Enhanced Oil Recovery) with chemicals are surfactant and salt. This composition is used for lowering interfacial tension, improving the recovery factor, and changing rock wettability so that oil is easy to push out. This laboratory studies aims at determining the composition for surfactant and salt solutions that can provide optimum recovery factor and knowing the effect of surfactantand salt concentration on oil recovery factor in the case of medium oil from field X with sandstone reservoir. <br />

Laboratory studies consists of 3 main process: making the aritifical core sandstone, spontaneous imbibition test, and contact angle measurement. In the making of artificial core sandstone, it uses the composition of 30% cement and 70% sandstone. Imbibition spontaneous testing were performed with salt concentration of 2,000 ppm, 6,000 ppm, 10,000 ppm, and 20,000 ppm. And also for surfactant concentration of 1% and 2%. This testing were performed by using only salt, aquades as formation water, and mixture of surfactant and salt. Contact angle measurement were performed to know the wettability sandstone on formation water, oil field X, and solutions that used it. From spontaneous imbibition experimental, it obtained that solution with surfactant concentration 2% and salt 6,000 ppm produces the optimum oil recovery of 96,06% for field X. |
